Print on demand handbook10 Effective Ways How to Market a Product

So you’ve crafted the perfect design, made the products you’ve always dreamed of having, set up your store, and are ready for the first sales to roll in . . . what now? It’s time to tell the world about your product!

The hard work doesn’t stop when you’ve created a product and added it to your store (trust me, I know). In fact, marketing a product is just as important as making one.

The author and inspirational speaker Simon Sinek has said that “the hardest part is starting. Once you get that out of the way, you’ll find the rest of the journey much easier,” and he’s absolutely right.

To help you start your marketing journey, I’ll share several ways to market a product online and create a product marketing strategy. You can also find a downloadable checklist at the end of this article so you can use it whenever you plan to promote a product.

You opening this blog means you’re considering the idea of designing your own clothing line, which is

The next piece of good news is, fashion is much more accessible and democratic than it was back in the day. In the words of Anna Wintour herself,

“Everybody’s now invited to the party.”

And what a party it is. We’re not looking at fashion just in terms of haute couture vs. ready-to-wear. There’s streetwear, athleisure, athletic wear, loungewear, and there’s every niche you can think of, as long as you can come up with a name for it (for January 2022, the niche of the month was Twee).

Even better news—with on-demand dropshipping services like Printful, starting your own clothing brand is easy, creative, and limitless. Your clothing line can be a starting point for a bigger brand or a complement to an existing business. Here’s a breakdown of who’d be doing what:

  • Apparel line concept: youhfhfghh. hfghgfh

  • Product sourcing and development: Printful
  • Production and supply: Printful
  • Order fulfillment and shipping: Printful
  • Marketing and communications: you

Your main task in this scenario is to create interest and demand—to go where your customers are and to create products and campaigns they’ll want to engage with.

And now for a reality check. This won’t be the first time you hear that retail is seeing unprecedented levels of overproduction. The reality 21st-century fashion brands are waking up to is that there’s little point in making entirely new things because, to some extent, everything has already been made.

It’s not all lost, though. The secret that successful designers won’t let you in on is that you don’t have to come up with something brand new; you have to uncover something forgotten and put it in a new light.

The evidence lies in the fact that we see wonderful brands and exciting clothing lines pop up every year. And you can be one of them.

In this blog, I’ll talk you through some of the first steps you need to take to start making decisions and be on your way to setting up your clothing company.

How To Make Money Doing What You Love

How To Make Money Doing What You Love

Can your week be summed up by this sentence – nothing ruins a Friday more than an understanding that today is Tuesday? And do you like your job only marginally more than you like doing nothing? It might be the right time to figure out what your passion is and how you can turn it into a job. We wanted to do something different this Valentine’s. Instead of the classic list of fun gift ideas, we decided to focus on what matters the most – doing what you love.

Here’s the secret – your passion is the number one resource you need to start doing what you love and getting paid for it. Are you a photography enthusiast? Perhaps you’re a foodie or a movie fanatic? Or maybe you already have a full-time job as a stay-at-home parent? All of these are niches for potential business opportunities. The odds are that if you enjoy doing something, there’s someone else out there who feels the same way. This can only mean one thing – it’s time to say goodbye to boring chores and finally start doing what you love. How you ask? Well, there are a few ways you can do that. You can start a side business, set up a different company or open an online store and be your own boss, creative director, and marketing guru. This blog post goes over the benefits of opening up your online store and gives you instructions on how to do it.

First, let’s look at some compelling data for online retail trends. It seems as if everyone and their mom is jumping on the quickly growing ecommerce trend. And they’re smart for doing so. According to 2017 sales forecasts from the National Retail Federation (NRF), online and other non-store online sales are expected to grow between 8 percent and 12 percent over last year’s sales numbers.

Seems like now is the time to jump on board. But hey, if the data and numbers is not your thing, how about these 3 major pros for doing online retail:

  • Very low or no startup costs. Many ecommerce platforms are free and so are the dropshipping and fulfillment services. Printful is one of them. To open a physical store, you need inventory, space, employees and other crucial elements. You can forget about all of that when you’re opening an online store. No inventory (everything gets printed when ordered), no physical space, no employees = very low to no cost. Essentially, you have nothing to lose.
  • Experiment as much as you want. Creating new products, putting together fun collections, and trying out something different is really easy and fun. Printful has a product push generator that allows you to upload a photo/design file and create products in just a few seconds. Basically, you can play, experiment and test out what works and what doesn’t as much as you want. The best part is – you can only benefit from experimenting because if one of your trials ends up being an error, you don’t lose too much money.
  • Results with online marketing. Now your store is ready and the products have been launched. So, how do you become visible to customers? Well, online marketing and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the way to go. This works because you can reach more and more qualified customers over the Internet compared to traditional offline marketing by targeting specific demographics.

A little while back we published a blog post that combined over 100 cool niche ideas. If you don’t think that your passion can be turned into a job you love, well – check out the blog post and find a niche that is the right fit for you.

Alright, let’s get to the list of steps you’ll have to take in order to start your own online store aka to do what you love.

Find your niche. This is key, hence why it’s been mentioned so much. I’ll use myself as an example to show you that anyone, and I mean literally anyone can be a niche. Alright, I like books, sarcastic humor, fashion, and puns. So how about creating a store that sells punny literature shirts, hoodies, and other goodies? I can picture a classic – “You were reading and then you saw a bird? Cool story, Poe.” tee as a staple in every bookworm’s closet.

Start designing. Whether you’re a Photoshop god or think that Photoshop is a place online where you can buy images, you need designs to get started. If simple quotes fit your niche, use canva.com or behappy.me to generate your files. If you’re going for a more complex look – try pixlr.com or gimp. They’re both free! Just keep in mind that the design you decide to go with has to match your niche.

Setup and launch your store. Your niche plays a big role in what your store looks like, doesn’t it? If you’re targeting artists and photography enthusiasts, choose a platform that is also a marketplace (StorenvyEcwid). But if your audience is not so artsy, pick one of the more traditional ecommerce platforms (ShopifyWoocommerceBigCommerce, etc). Just keep in mind that the outside shell of your store should complement the content you’re selling.

Market your products. Your store is ready and you can’t wait for the first sales to roll in. This is where marketing comes in. Target the people who match your niche and are most likely to purchase and enjoy your products. The best way to do that is through Facebook ads. We did an in-depth post about the best tactics for creating successful ads that convert and we encourage you to read it. One of the best parts about selling online is the fact that you get to select your customers based on what they like.

Well, you did it champ! Of course, the transition from a regular 9-5 job to doing what you love won’t happen overnight. It takes time to build your brand to a level where you can say goodbye to your old job. But know that it is possible to turn the things you love into a career. Don’t expect to make bank right away. It’ll start out slow, gradually you’ll notice that it’s taking off and you have a new side gig until,l in the end, you’ll be a business owner who enjoys their job. Isn’t that the dream? We hope this Valentine’s blog post has inspired you to find your niche and sparked an interest for starting a new side project you could eventually turn into a paying gig.

Humans Are Your Competitive Advantage in Order Fulfillment

Humans Are Your Competitive Advantage in Order Fulfillment

Regardless of the headlines - although moving around the warehouse, moving products from one location to another, drones in the air are all done by robots - much of logistics, and the eCommerce order fulfillment space, in particular, remains non-automated and human-intensive.

Not robots, humans are your competitive advantage in order fulfillment.

In a commodity-driven world, the human touch facilitates and optimizes the space of order fulfillment and logistics. In fact, the human factor is becoming a competitive advantage of many 3PLs. Humans bring unique customization and personalization to a time when the world is rapidly over-commercialized. Especially in the context of this year’s extraordinary events, partnerships, transparency, and people connections are increasingly important things.

Order Fulfillment Center vs. Warehouse: What is the Difference?

Order Fulfillment Center vs. Warehouse: What is the Difference?

To begin with, what is the order fulfillment center and what is it different from a warehouse? When discussing logistics and supply chain management, people often use the terms warehouse and fulfillment center (sometimes called distribution center or 3PL) interchangeably. However, each term can have different meanings depending on the circumstances.

At the most basic level, both are large buildings that can hold inventory for all types of businesses selling products through either traditional retailers or online and e-commerce stores like Shopify, WooCommerce, etc. Despite this similarity, there are differences in the services offered and how they are used. To help you better understand which options suit your individual business needs, we will describe the functions and purposes of each in the following article.

ORDER FULFILLMENT COSTS AND PRICING: Things you need to know

ORDER FULFILLMENT COSTS AND PRICING: Things you need to know

Do you really know how much order fulfillment services cost? Fast and accurate delivery to your customers is essential for your brand, but the issue of cost directly affects how much profit you make. When looking for order fulfillment centers, you need to do a lot of research and consideration to choose the one that fits your budget. However, the first question that businesses directly ask is: “How much will order fulfillment cost?”

Not all order fulfillment warehouses are created equal, and some pay more for premium services that aren't really needed. You can find a lot of 3PL warehouses out there that are very affordable.

In many cases, you should have a partner who is an outsourced fulfillment company because they are experts in this area, which helps them reduce overall costs. In fact, there are several reasons that outsourcing will save your company money:

  1. Large volumes of orders when shipped jointly by outsourced companies will cost more than shipping yourself.
  2. Reduce fixed costs to operate, such as rental costs as you will have to pay for the space you use – this can be extremely helpful for cyclical business models.
  3. Reduce the cost of supplies, such as boxes, packaging, etc.
  4. Reduce time and staff management costs
  5. Instead of spending time shipping orders, you can spend time thinking about ideas to develop its business.

Remember that a fixed formula does not measure costs. Expenses can appear in many different fulfillment categories. And most commonly, fulfillment services companies will charge you based on the services they performed for you during the month. In this post, we'll give you all the information you need to know to determine the price and cost of fulfillment services.
